Two people were hospitalized and Salt Lake City police arrested 11 people Sunday after a gang fight broke out during a rap music concert at the Hampton Inn & Suites, 340 N. Admiral Byrd Drive.

Salt Lake City Police Lt. Dave Askerlund said officers were called to the hotel about 1:23 a.m. when members of a rival gang apparently crashed the party. A private security guard fired shots in the air to try to disperse the crowd, but otherwise no shots were fired.

One 15-year-old, however, was hospitalized with a stab wound to the arm, caused by a broken bottle. Another 15-year-old was hospitalized with a head injury after being hit during the fight, Askerlund said.

A number of juveniles were intoxicated at the party, and police also found "large quantities" of the drug Ecstacy and $1,400 in cash, Askerlund said.

Warrants were served on four adults. A hotel employee was arrested for allegedly possessing a controlled substance and supplying alcohol to minors, Askerlund said.
