Utah

VOLLEYBALL: At Fort Worth, Texas, freshman Airial Salvo led the University of Utah volleyball team to its fifth straight victory as it topped TCU Saturday, 3-0. Salvo had a match-high 12 kills to go along with four total blocks as Utah improved to 16-6 overall and to 8-3 in Mountain West Conference play. TCU falls to 15-11 and to 3-7.

The Utes hit .275 for the match and saw Emillie Toone lead all players in hitting .636 over the three games. She had seven kills on the night. The visitors out-blocked TCU, 15.5-6, and held the Horned Frogs to a paltry ..008 efficiency. Utah was led defensively by Lori Baird and Toone, both with six total blocks.

CYCLING: Heather Holmes from the Univeristy of Utah cycling club won the collegiate short track mountain bike national championship in Seven Springs, Pa., Thursday.

Westminster

VOLLEYBALL: Westminster College defeated Montana Tech in 3 games Saturday in Butte, Mont. The scores were 30-22, 30-21 and 30-20. Angie Johnson had 15 kills, 4 digs, 3 blocks and 3 aces. Celestial Alofipo had 14 kills, 7 digs, 3 blocks and 1 ace. Westminster's record is now 10-1 in conference and 14-10 overall.

Utah Valley

CROSS COUNTRY: Utah Valley State cross country runner Mark Lott finished ninth at the Independent Cross Country Championships on Saturday. Lott had a time of 25:30.08 in the five-mile race. As a team the men finished in fourth place, just behind, North Dakota State, UC-Davis and South Dakota State. SDSU won the meet with 56 points.

After Lott, Joe Bendoski was the next Wolverine to cross the finish line. He ran 25:58.03 and finished in 16th place. Ryan Gurr finished in 17th place at 25:58.61. Michael Vick finished in 19th place at 26:06.35. His time was three minutes and 39 seconds faster than last year.

On the women's side, Bekah Meier-Poppinga finished the three-mile race with a time of 18:09.98. The women's team finished fifth.

SOCCER: The UVSC soccer team ended its home season by beating Delaware State 11-0 on Saturday. Eight different Wolverine players scored goals in the game. Megan Berrett scored three goals and Jenni Wright had two goals and three assists. The Wolverines led 3-0 at halftime and scored eight goals in the second half. The Wolverines fired 47 shots in the game and had 17 corner kicks.

Also scoring goals for UVSC was Kaley Frederick, Addie Hair, Brooke Roberts, April Graf, Chelsea Arnell and Rebecca Petersen.
