Last week: AFA lost 48-10 vs. TCU; BYU lost 49-23 at Notre Dame.

Last meeting: 2004, BYU won 41-24 at Air Force.

Trends to watch: AFA has lost five of its last six games. BYU leads the series 19-6 and holds a 16-6 edge in conference meetings. Both teams lost their last games. The last time the Falcons were in Provo, they walked away with their first win here in 20 tries, dating back to 1982. The Cougars have scored first in five straight games.

Players to watch: BYU tight end Jonny Harline has emerged as John Beck's most consistent weapon with his three 100-yard receiving games. Beck has thrown for 2,219 yards and 14 touchdowns. Air Force quarterback Shaun Carney is completing 60 percent of his passes for 999 yards and five touchdowns. Jacobe Kendrick leads the team in rushing with 355 yards. The Falcons' top receiver is Jason Brown, 31 receptions for 522 yards and two TDs.

Air Force will win if . . . the Falcon offense produces 38 points, gets BYU turnovers and controls the time of possession.

BYU will win if . . . The Cougars take advantage of mismatches on the Falcon defense and run and pass effectively in wet conditions.

Extra points: Air Force has the top-rated rushing offense in the league with a 250.5 average and will face the league's top rushing defense. BYU's defense is allowing 130 yards rushing per game. Last week the Falcons gained 239 yards rushing against TCU, the second-ranked MWC rushing defense. The Cougars are 3-0 when RB Curtis Brown rushes for 100 yards or more and 0-4 when he doesn't. With a 100-yard rushing game against the Falcons, Brown can come within one 100-yard game of BYU's top rushers with 10 such games. Those players include Luke Staley, Lakei Heimuli, John Ogden and Jamal Willis.
