KSL radio (AM-1160) continues to solidly lead the latest Arbitron ratings, and that's without any shares from its FM simulcast (FM-102.7).

The Arbitron "Summer Book," which was released Oct. 24, shows that KSL has a 7.0 share of the age 12-plus listening audience. That's 1.1 percent better than second-place (and KSL's sister station) KSFI ("FM-100") at 5.9 percent.

KSFI continues to slide, down from an 8.1 percent high in the fall of 2004.

KSL's FM signal is listed separately on the Arbitron ratings, and it alone ranks 18th place among the 32 rated stations at 2.0 percent. This rating is probably meaningless because the old "Star 102.7" existed for about half of the summer book and does not allow for a clear picture of how well the simulcast is doing.

KUBL (FM-93.3) slipped to fourth place in the latest ratings at 5.7 percent as KXRK ("X-96") moved to third with a 5.8 percent share.

KNRS (AM-570) continues to do well and has a 5.3 share for fifth.

Other observations show KBER (FM-101.1) jumping to sixth place at 4.4 percent; KTKK ("K-Talk") showing up again in the ratings; and KUTR (AM-820) still being totally absent again. This women's programming station started in May and has never appeared in the age 12-plus general ratings yet. KBEE is also in a downward trend.

KDUT (FM-102.3) shows that Mexican music is more popular than ever with a 3.3 percent audience share. (Arbitron estimates that the combined population of Utah, Salt Lake, Davis and Weber counties is 9.6 percent Hispanic.)

Rounding out the top 10 are: 7. KODJ ("Oldies 94") at 4.2 percent; 8. KSOP (FM-104.3), 4.1 percent; 9. KRSP (FM-103.5), 3.8; and 10. KOSY (FM-106.5), 3.7 percent.

The remaining stations to be ranked are: 11. KUUU ("U-92") 3.4; 12. KDUT (FM-102.3, Spanish), 3.3 percent; 13. KJMY ("My-99.5"), 2.9; 14. KZHT (FM-97.1), 2.8; 15. KJQN, 2.3; 16. KBZN (FM-97.9, "The Breeze"), 2.2; 17. KENZ ("The End," FM-101.9), 2.1; 18. KSL (simulcast of AM-1160 on FM-102.7). 2.0; 19. KHTB (FM-94.9), 1.8; 20. KBEE (FM-98.7), 1.7.

21. KEGA (FM-101.5), 1.6; 22. KPQP (the old and now deceased "Pop 101.9"), 1.5; 23. KBMG (FM-106.1, Spanish). 1.4; 24. KXRV (FM-105.7, "The River"), 1.2; 25. KALL ("Hot Ticket," AM-700), 1.0; 26. (tie) KUDD (FM-107.9) and KZNS (AM-1280/960), 0.9; 28. KXTA-AM (Spanish), 0.8; 29. (tie) KDYL (AM-1060), KSVN (AM-730) and KTKK (AM-630), 0.6 percent shares; 32. KFNZ (AM-1320), 0.5.
