CEDAR CITY Southern Utah University now has the only accredited dance curriculum in higher education in the state, SUU officials announced this week.
The University of Utah's ballet and modern dance departments are currently working together toward accreditation with the National Association of Schools of Dance, which recently awarded SUU's program its accreditation.
"It is an honor to receive this distinction for our dance program," said Bill Byrnes, SUU dean of the College of Performing and Visual Arts.
The NASD is the national accrediting agency for dance and dance-related disciplines for 62 schools.
