DATC's Web class offered in evenings

KAYSVILLE — The Davis Applied Technology College is offering its Web & Media Technology Program evening classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:30-7:30 p.m., along with day classes that run from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

This opportunity will provide working men, housewives, single moms and high school students the opportunity to become multimedia developers, graphic artists, instructional designers, illustrators, Web designers, Internet developers, 3-D multimedia developers or animators on their own schedule. The overall program is 1,290 hours in length for the UCAT Media Design Certificate, and students can begin their training for as little as $1.15 per hour.

Lily Yang, Web & Media Technology Instructor, says: "Our program offers our students expertise in graphics, photography, text, video, animations, music, audio, animation and programming in order to entertain, educate and communicate. This exciting technology is used in television, film, music, business, training and the Internet."

Upon completion of the Web Designer, E-Business, Web Developer, Digital Publishing Graphic Design, 3-D Modeling & Animation or Multimedia Track, a student can test for their certificate in IC3, CIW, Macromedia or Adobe.

According to the June 2005 Utah Occupational Wages Annual from the Department of Workforce Services, the average wage for graphic designers or multimedia animators is between $25,730 to $45,890. The Davis Applied Technology College is excited to expand its program offerings in programs like Web & Media Design along with its other 32 career choices.
