In last week's article on "Exodus," featuring 300 black and white photographs by Sabastiao Salgado at The Leonardo at Library Square through Dec. 17, I neglected to mention that the exhibit is also sponsored by the SLC Film Center and the University of Utah College of Humanities.
Two years ago, Salgado was the Tanner Lecture keynote speaker for the College of Humanities. At this time the possibility of bringing his exhibit to Salt Lake City was discussed.
Once again, the college will bring Salgado to town from Nov. 30-Dec. 2, where the photographer will participate as a keynote presenter in the College of Humanities' "An Evening of Conscience" (which will also feature Mexican poet Homero Aridjis and noted author Terry Tempest Williams).
This event Thursday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. at Kingsbury Hall will raise funds to support student scholarships in environmental humanities, peace and conflict studies and documentary studies. Proceeds will also go directly to supporting Salgado's Instituto Terra rainforest restoration project in northern Brazil.
