Two Ogden men died over the weekend in what police say may have been a murder-suicide involving two friends.
The body of a 42-year-old man was found about 11:30 p.m. Saturday in his trailer home at 1450 N. Washington Blvd. Evidence at the scene indicated the man may have been beaten to death, said Ogden Police Lt. Scott Conley.
As investigators contacted friends and other people who knew the victim, they were led to the home of a 43-year-old man at 610 N. Gramercy. There was no answer when police knocked on the door about 2:30 a.m. Sunday. But when they went back, about 4:15 a.m., they found the 43-year-old man dead in his carport, where he apparently hung himself, Conley said.
"We talked to other family members who were in the home at the time and were unaware of his location or activity," Conley said of the second victim. "They indicated that he got up when officers first came up and looked out the window but did not open the door. He never came back to bed. The family member fell asleep and was only aware of officers knocking a second time.
"There is evidence that was located at the second location that gives indications that both situations are related. It is our theory that it is a homicide-suicide type activity."
The names of the victims were not released pending notification of family.
Investigators said the first victim apparently had some sort of medical condition and the second victim had been coming to the trailer to mow his lawn and take care of his yard on a regular basis.
"They had not been seen arguing, but they had contact with each other," Conley said.
"There may have been some sort of drug activity" and investigators are looking into that possibility, Conley added.
