Sloan did say Boozer is "getting better. He just is not there yet. He just said, 'I'm feeling better."'

POWER TO SMALL: The Pioneer Press in Minnesota recently noted that former University of Minnesota product Kris Humphries has transitioned from power forward to small forward.

Sloan clarified that Friday. "He's played (small forward) because we were kind of short-handed with Andrei (Kirilenko, broken nose), and Matt's out," he said of Harpring, whose knee is still healing from microfracture surgery.

It's good for Humphries to get the experience. "You've got to be able to play two positions," Sloan said.

FAMILY AFFAIR: Former Jazz guard Bryon Russell, who played in Denver last season, remains in Nuggets training camp, taking his chances with a non-guaranteed contract.

"I came back here because I think we're a family," Russell told Denver's Rocky Mountain News. "I'm not worried about (the difficulty of making the team). I'm just going to go out there and play."
