It is nice to see that Kennecott is finally doing something with the land that it owns on the west side of the valley. They are opening a small portion of the Oquirrh Mountains for people to enjoy once again.
There are still a couple of things that the company needs to do: Make more of the mountain range available to hiking, horseback riding and other activities and put some kind of marker or sign that would show the old town of Garfield was located on the west side of Magna.
If the county and Kennecott could recognize the town and the highway, that would be great. Other ghost towns like Lark need this also.
