Foundation seeks names for humanitarian awards
The awards will be presented to veterans and humanitarians who most exemplify the mission of Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation (VVAF), an international humanitarian organization that addresses the causes, conduct and consequences of war through programs of advocacy and service for victims of conflict. The organization is launching the awards in celebration of its 25th anniversary this year.
In the years following the Vietnam War, American soldiers have returned from conflicts in the Middle East, Latin America and elsewhere with a commitment to a new mission of working toward peace and humanity. VVAF looks forward to sharing the torch for a brighter tomorrow with these remarkable individuals who demonstrate the passion, vision, courage, perseverance and integrity needed for a compassionate world.
Torch for Tomorrow Award nominees must be working in some capacity to address the causes, conduct or consequences of war. This includes, but is not limited to, nominees working to raise awareness by engaging in: reconciliation, reconstruction, rehabilitation or relief assistance work for victims of conflict in war-torn countries.
Nomination forms are available at www.VVAF.org and must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Oct. 31. Completed forms may be submitted to VVAF by fax at 202-483-9312 by e-mail at torchaward@vi.org, or mailed to Torch For Tomorrow Awards at Vietnam Veterans of America Foundation, 1725 Eye St., NW, 4th Floor, Washington, DC 20006.
