In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Family History Library of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is hosting a family history conference for Hispanics.
The 8th Annual Hispanic Family History Conference will be Saturday. Registration begins at 9:30; an opening forum will be at 10 a.m. The event will be held at the Family History Library, 35 N. West Temple, Salt Lake City.
"The purpose of the conference is to instruct Hispanics on how to preserve their family history and culture, and acquaint them with the records available right here in Salt Lake," said Carlos Alvarez, president of Legado Latino, the Hispanic chapter of the Utah Genealogical Association.
Consultants will be available during the conference and classes will be taught in Spanish.
For information, go online to familyhistory.byu.edu or call Alvarez at 801-240-6084, or Ruth Gomez Schirmacher at 801-240-1530.
