Utah report card

GRADE C

Offense

Despite racking up 425 yards of total offense and 18 first downs, the fact is the Utes came up empty when it mattered most. Quinton Ganther was a bright spot with 112 yards rushing — 113 would have been more appreciated. Two interceptions also lowered Utah's mark.

GRADE B

Defense

Improvement was evident early as Utah held Colorado State to just three points through three quarters. The fourth quarter, however, proved to be a different story as the Rams rallied with three touchdowns to win the game.

GRADE A

Special teams

Thanks to Eric Weddle's 2-yard touchdown run on a fake field goal, the Utes scored highly in this department. Louie Sakoda kicked off well and had a 52-yard punt. Dan Beardall made his only field-goal attempt and both PATs he kicked.

GRADE C

Overall

A solid start and good play through three quarters were tarnished by yet another fourth-quarter letdown. Giving up three touchdowns and failing to convert on first-and-goal with the game on the line overshadowed an otherwise improved performance by the Utes.
