Utah's drivers' licenses are getting a new look and added security features. The redesigned Utah drivers' licenses, state identification cards and driver privilege cards will be issued starting next July, said Nannette Rolfe, director of the Driver License Division.
The Driver License Division is also upgrading security on temporary licenses, Rolfe said. The moves are part of the division's efforts to comply with the federal REAL ID Act.
Rolfe spoke Wednesday at the Attorney General's White Collar Crime Conference.
The division is also working on means to verify all documents and to be able to retain electronic copies of documents, such as Social Security cards and birth certificates, for 10 years, as the REAL ID Act requires.
"Our security at Public Safety has got to be at the ultimate," Rolfe said.
