An Alta High School senior died Tuesday night from injuries in a crash and was mourned Wednesday by students and teachers.
Killed was: Daniel Jordan Moss, 17, Sandy.
Moss was driving a pickup truck when it flipped near 1300 East and 10600 South. The truck flew through the air, rolled sideways and struck a utility vehicle in the oncoming traffic lane, said Sandy Sgt. Mitch Howard.
Moss was flown to University Hospital, where family gathered to await news from doctors, said Melinda Colton, spokeswoman for the Jordan School District.
He was pronounced dead later that night, she said.
Alta High principal Mont Winderberg announced Moss' death Wednesday morning and informed students that crisis counselors were available, Colton said.
Students and teachers made use of the counselors. Some only learned of Moss' death Wednesday morning because the crash happened Tuesday at about 2:45 p.m., 20 minutes after school let out, Colton said.
