OUTDOOR WOMAN
The Becoming an Outdoors Woman program will hold a special pheasant hunt for women only on Friday and Saturday at the Pheasant Run Outfitters, a private lodge and hunting preserved near Gunnison.
Those enrolled will check into the lodge on Friday and hunt on Saturday.
This is, said Nancy Hoff, volunteer program coordinator for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, said this is an opportunity for women to learn how to hunt in a safe, non-competitive environment and enjoy the camaraderie of hunting with other women. Novice and experienced hunters are welcome.
The cost is $150 per person and includes overnight accommodations, use of lodge amenities, three meals a day, guide service, dogs and up to three harvested birds.

PARK CITY DRIVE-IN
Park City Mountain Resort will introduce the "drive-in" experience to the viewing public tonight when it premiers two films, "From MDP, With Love" and "As If!"
The films will be shown on a large outdoor screen 65-feet wide by 33-feet tall in the First Time parking lot.
Park City is featured in both films.
"As If!" will begin at 7 p.m. and "From MDP, With Love" will follow at 8 p.m.. Admission is free. There will be a number of prizes given away including season passes to Park City Mountain Resort and ski and snowboard gear.
NATURE/BIRD WALK
The Layton, Wild Bird Center will celebrate its 4th anniversary on Oct. 15. The celebration will begin with a free nature/bird walk to Kayscreek. Participants meet at the Wild Bird Center and depart at 8 a.m.
Following the walk, Hawk Watch International and the Ogden Nature Center will be exhibiting live birds of prey from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Birds will include the bald eagle, great horned owl, red-tailed hawk, Swainson's hawk and many other beautiful raptors.
The Wasatch Audubon chapter, the Utah Nature Conservancy, Utah Division of Wildlife Resources and Farmington Bay Nature Center will be participating.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Wild Bird Center is located in the Layton Market Center, 1860 N. 1000 West in Layton. For information call 801-525-8400.
NEW WILDLIFE BOARD MEMBERS
Two new members have been appointed to the seven-member Utah Wildlife Board, which approves all of Utah's hunting, fishing and wildlife-related rules.
Appointed were Keele Johnson of Blanding and Rick
Woodard of Provo. They replace Max Morgan of Price and Brenda Freeman of Ogden, whose terms expired this year.
Johnson is a former Utah state legislator and currently serves on the Blanding City Council.
Woodard is a former chairman of the citizen regional wildlife advisory council in central Utah and is co-chair of the Strawberry Valley Sage Grouse Working Group, which is working to protect sage-grouse in the Strawberry Valley in central Utah.
