LDS Temples in Utah

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has 122 temples in 37 countries; 72 have been built during the past decade under the leadership of LDS Church President Gordon B. Hinckley.

Eleven temples are currently operating in Utah. Three others are now planned in the state:

• A new temple is to be built in the Daybreak area of South Jordan, the church announced Saturday.

• A second is planned for an as-yet undisclosed site on the west side.

• The church announced another site in the Corner Canyon area of Draper last year; construction has yet to begin.

Six other temples are currently in progress in the United States and around the world: in Rexburg and Twin Falls, Idaho; Sacramento, Calif.; Helsinki, Finland; Panama City, Panama; Curitiba, Brazil.

Temples currently operating in Utah and their dedication dates include:

• St. George Temple (April 6, 1877)

• Logan Temple (May 17, 1884)

• Manti Temple (May 17, 1888)

• Salt Lake Temple (April 6, 1893)

• Ogden Temple (Jan. 18, 1972)

• Provo Temple (Feb. 9, 1972)

• Jordan River Temple (Nov. 16, 1981)

• Bountiful Temple (Jan. 8, 1995)

• Timpanogos (American Fork) Temple (Oct. 13, 1996)

• Vernal Temple (Nov. 2, 1997)
