Spokesmen for the College of Eastern Utah and Dixie State College said they follow state motor pool policies, which limit the number of occupants inside their 15-passenger vans to nine, including the driver.

"You can't drive even a minivan and think it will respond like a car does," CEU spokeswoman Vicki Kulow said.

Funeral services for those killed in the crash began Thursday and will continue through Monday.

As a sign of "solidarity" and respect for those killed, Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. Thursday ordered that U.S. flags and state flags fly at half-staff on all college campuses, starting at sunrise, today and ending on sunset Monday.

Uniforms for USU athletic teams are also expected to bear symbols honoring the deceased throughout the year. Money that was supposed to have been raised for hurricane victims along the Gulf Coast is being redirected to memorial funds for the students' families.

USU officials also postponed meeting of its Board of Trustees today and the inauguration of university President Stan L. Albrecht next week.
