Here is a summary of criminal charges contained in police records of Hurricane Katrina evacuees brought to Utah, compiled by the Utah Department of Public Safety. This summary is partial minor or remote charges were not included. This list was prepared on Sept. 17 for use by the Utah Department of Public Safety. Forty-two of the evacuees had criminal records.
Eight homicides or murders of varying degrees
One attempted murder
Thirteen aggravated assault/battery
Six robbery (some aggravated and some not)
Four crimes against juveniles (some are sexual and some are not specific)
One kidnapping
Three rape or sexual battery
Four firearms charges
One supervised federal probation
