The Home Away from Home Coalition would like to announce that after its 500-plus volunteer fund-raising effort, they have raised upwards of $113,000 to aid Hurricane Katrina evacuees displaced to Utah and Utah's homeless. The kickoff event, which brought in over $75,000 of that fund, was held on the Skaggs Catholic Center grounds in Draper on Sept. 10.
The collaboration involved churches, businesses, communities and individuals voluntarily and cooperatively working to provide relief in the form of food, clothing, cash, compassion and other needful items to those who have come to Utah as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
