DAVID ROBERTS, author of "On the Ridge Between Life and Death: A Climbing Life Re-examined," will sign copies of his book Tuesday, 7-8:30 p.m., REI, 3285 E. 3300 South.

EDWARD L. KIMBALL, retired law professor, Brigham Young University, and author of "Lengthen Your Stride: The Presidency of Spencer W. Kimball," will discuss his book during a free lecture Wednesday, 7-8 p.m., Gould Auditorium, Marriott Library, University of Utah.

PAT BAGLEY, Salt Lake Tribune cartoonist and author of "Clueless George Goes to War," will sign copies of his book Wednesday, 7 p.m., The King's English, 1511 S. 1500 East.

JASON WRIGHT, author of "The James Miracle," will sign copies of his new book, "Christmas Jars," Wednesday, 6:30 p.m., Cedar City Deseret Book.

HOWARD JONES, history professor at the University of Alabama and author of more than a dozen books, will deliver a free lecture, "Toward a More Perfect Union: Lincoln and the Death of Slavery," Thursday, 1:30 p.m., Special Collections, Stewart Library, Weber State University, Ogden.

JACQUELINE BERGER, poet, and LES STANDIFORD, fiction writer, will read from their work Thursday, 7 p.m., Art Barn/Reservoir Park, 1325 E. 100 South, sponsored by City Arts.

MURDER MYSTERY DINNER, sponsored by Covenant Communications, will feature many of its authors for a signing Friday, 5:30-6:30 p.m., Hampton Inn and Suites, 307 N. Admiral Byrd Road. Among the authors included will be KERRY BLAIR, JENNIE HANSEN, MICHELE ASHMAN BELL, JEFFREY SAVAGE, JERI GILCHRIST, STEPHANIE BLACK and MARSHALL MCDONALD.
