Car hits scooter, injuring its rider

A boy was transported to Primary Children's Medical Center in critical condition Tuesday after the scooter he was riding was hit by a car.

The car had the right-of-way and was traveling the speed limit, said Salt Lake City Police Sgt. Phil Eslinger. The female driver was headed west on 200 South and hit the 10- to 12-year-old boy on the west side of the intersection at 800 East. The woman said she didn't see the boy until it was too late.
