Hee Haw Farms host whole crew of barnyard buddies
If you startle them, they'll stiffen up, faint and fall over.
And don't leave your pumpkin in or around LeRoy's pen. If you do, it'll be gone in just a couple of bites.
LeRoy is a 1,200-pound, 5-year-old pig who enjoys not only a juicy pumpkin, but corn cobs, gourds and doughnuts.
He's the family pet and probably the largest swine in the state, say the farms' owners.
He's also one of the "big" attractions at Hee Haw Farms, a 100-year-old farm on the outskirts of Pleasant Grove that has evolved into a site for fall and Halloween fun.
In addition to visiting LeRoy and his new family of 12 piglets, Hee Haw Farms hosts a whole crew of barnyard buddies, including the African fainting goat herd.
"In the wild, they drop over to avoid a predator," explained Jason Jacobs. "They go stiff, and whatever is chasing them thinks they're sick so they leave them alone."
Besides spooking the stiff-legged goats, other activities include: running the corn maze, riding an animal train, shooting off a corn cannon, competing in the pedal car races, enjoying the hay wagon rides, keeping up in the piglet races (featuring LeRoy's offspring) and chowing down in a pumpkin pie-eating contest.
"We enjoy seeing people's faces light up with smiles as they get a taste of some good farmin' fun," says owner Kyle Smith.
Hee Haw Farms becomes spookier from Sept. 30 to Oct. 29, with the Haunted Hayride and Corn Evil Corridor. Haunting on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays.
