The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host a Spanish-speaking devotional for Utah Latinos on Sunday, Sept. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Center.
The program will commemorate the 175th anniversary of the restoration of the church and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Joseph Smith, the faith's founding prophet. Speakers will include two LDS general authorities yet to be named, and a 365-voice youth choir will provide music.
Organizers say the program will also review highlights of LDS Church growth and progress in Latin America. Designed primarily for Spanish-speaking Latter-day Saints and their families, friends and neighbors, the program is free and open to the public. A limited number of headsets will be available for English and Portuguese translation.
Tickets will be required for entry. A limited number are still available, and can be requested by phone, 801-240-0080 or toll-free at 1-866-537-8457; online at www.lds.org/events/info or in person at the Conference Center ticket office, located at door 4. The ticket office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is a limit of 10 tickets per person.
Tickets ordered online or via telephone will be put in "Will Call" at the ticket office and can be picked up during ticket office hours or the evening of the event starting at 5:30 p.m.
The devotional is a local event and will not be broadcast via satellite or the Internet.
