A man was shot and killed when he and his wife were putting their guns in the trunk of their car and one accidentally went off.
The couple, in their 30s, is from Pleasant Grove and was visiting the Eight Mile Pass area of Tooele County when the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. They had been shooting in the canyon and had just finished when it started raining, said Tooele County Sheriff's Lt. Duke North.
North said the woman walked or ran nearly three miles until she was able to find someone to help. She had a cell phone, but no service was available where they had parked their car.
The shooting is still under investigation, but North said police don't suspect any foul play.
