Police have released the name of the woman who was shot to death Sunday in Bountiful.
Janeil B. Drommond, 29, of Woods Cross, died from a gunshot wound to her head and one to her torso.
She was planning to get married Sept. 2.
Police say Drommond's ex-husband, 29-year-old David Drommond, shot her at close range after she dropped their children off at his home as part of a visitation agreement.
Jeneil Drommond's father, Neil Bradley, 53, Centerville, was also shot in the torso and arm. He is recovering at University Hospital, said Bountiful police Lt. Steve Gray.
David Drommond tried to shoot himself with the 9 mm handgun but the gun apparently jammed, which gave neighbors a chance to wrestle it away from him, Gray said.
Drommond then fled, but he was arrested by the first police officer to arrive at the scene.
The Drommonds were divorced Jan. 5, according to court records, and Janeil Drommond received a protective order against David Drommond in April for cohabitant abuse.
Deputy Davis County Attorney Steve Major said his office plans to file charges against David Drommond today in 2nd District Court.
Drommond is being held without bail in the Davis County Jail. The Drommonds' children, boys ages 4 and 6, are with a grandmother, Gray said.
