Isn't that all any of us want is just to go out and play?
We love to have fun and housework. Laundry and cooking just don't fit into our idea of fun activities. But here is the flip side of this coin. We want to have a clean house, too! We want to live without the CHAOS that has invaded our homes, and we want to not have all the guilt that is piled on our heads for all the things that we have not done.
So how do we get what we want? There is an old saying, "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride!" All the wanting, wishing and praying for a more organized and chaotic free life is not going to happen unless you are willing to change your attitude and get off your Franny and do something!
Well, we can't have our cake and eat it too! We have to make a choice of what to do first. When we procrastinate about our homes then the playtime is not that much fun because back on the home front we have all those undone chores pulling us away from the fun that we so desperately want to enjoy. What we have been doing has not been working so let's try something different and see if we can get a different result.
Just like when we were kids we were not allowed to go out and play till we had our homework done, our rooms clean and our school clothes changed to play clothes. We get to reward ourselves with guilt-free play when we get the things done that have been tugging at us.
I am not talking about all work and no play either. Just like with our children we can set a timer and do 15 minutes of homework/housework and then 15 minutes of play, reading or computer time. Some days at our home I have 15-minute days. My timer is keeping me focused on what I need to do for you, my routines and what I need to do for me.
When I am working around my home it is like a meditation for my soul. That is when many of the God Breezes come to me. I am going about my routines and not even having to think about what to do because my routines are so automatic. This frees up my mind to create and have fun with my writing and my home. There is nothing I love better than my cup of coffee in the morning in Robert's tree house. It is really just a screened in porch off of our back deck. We call it the tree house because it is fun.
Now, I want you all to set your timer for 15 minutes.
