OREM — The Utah Valley State College Department of Dental Hygiene class of 2005 placed fifth out of 279 programs nationwide on the dental hygiene national boards. This year marks the fourth time the program has ranked in the top 10 in recent years.

The national boards cover subjects including pathology, pharmacology, radiology, community health, clinic care, immunology, anatomy, physiology and microbiology. It is one of several tests students must pass to earn their license to practice dental hygiene. The entire class also earned a 100 percent passing rate on their Local Anesthesia and Clinical Hygiene Boards.

UVSC Dental Hygiene is a fully accredited two-year program which grants an associate degree. Students learn from experienced professionals and have actual patients starting the end of their first semester.
