Price, who almost every year is one of the largest political donors in Utah, has never been shy about saying his donations bring influence.

As he said in a 1996 interview, "How would you know about me without those donations? You wouldn't. Others may have a lot of knowledge. But if they don't donate, too, no one's going to counsel with them, and no one cares."

Korologos, who was reared in Utah and was even the first to come up with the slogan "Greatest Snow on Earth" for a newspaper promotion, was one of the most powerful lobbyists in Washington for years. The center said he and his immediate family made $111,300 in donations in the period studied.

The report said, "Appointed by Bush in June 2004, Korologos hasn't wasted any time thanking the president: He already has donated $25,000 to the Republican National Committee for the 2006 election cycle," which was not included in the totals.

The center said the largest donor overall among Bush's ambassadors or nominees is Roland Arnall, the billionaire owner of Ameriquest Capital Corp., whom Bush nominated last month as ambassador to the Netherlands. He gave $2.1 million overall — with about half to Republicans and half to Democrats.
