A man was charged in 3rd District Court this past week after hitting a car while allegedly driving drunk on I-80 last month.
The 42-year-old Tooele man rear-ended the vehicle, causing undisclosed damages, according to court documents.
The responding officer noticed the man had an "odor of alcohol, slurred speech and poor balance," and a blood sample was provided. The office of Utah Department of Health Analyst determined the man had a .14 blood-alcohol content, the court documents said.
The man was charged with one count of driving while under the influence, a third-degree felony, and one count of operation of a vehicle without security, a class B misdemeanor. The man had been convicted of two prior DUI incidents within 10 years and is subject to enhanced penalties.
