KEARNS — Residents here on Tuesday voted for their new nine-member community council as the county seeks to revamp the group it dissolved earlier this year.

Residents throughout the unincorporated chunk of western Salt Lake County voted for four at-large representatives and five representing specific districts. However, results and voter turnouts will not be available until the ballots are counted this afternoon.

The Kearns Town Council was dissolved in March after the county mayor's office announced it would no longer recognize the group, plagued with infighting and concerns about the way state and federal grants were being administered. The grant administration became the subject of an investigation by the District Attorney's Office.

The Deseret Morning News will report the results in Thursday's paper.
