A 26-year-old man was arrested by Salt Lake City police Monday for investigation of strong-arm robbery after allegedly threatening a cab driver.
Early Monday, a cab driver was getting fuel at a gas station near 1300 South and 900 East before driving to Park City to pick up a fare, according to Salt Lake City police detective Dwayne Baird.
While the cab driver was getting the gas, another man climbed in the cab and refused to get out even after the driver told him he would call another cab for him Baird said.
The man became extremely agitated, began yelling and threatening the driver, and then demanded the driver's money. The driver honked the cab's horn and held it continuously, causing enough noise that the man was scared away, Baird said.
About 9:30 a.m., the cab driver returned from Park City. While driving past another gas station, near 400 East and 700 South, he happened to spot the same man again.
Police were called and the man was taken into custody, Baird said.
