The Ogden Raptors fell to the Casper Rockies by a score of 8-6 Friday night in Casper. The loss snapped the Raptors' seven-game winning streak.
Jesus Soto hit a solo home in the second inning to give the Raptors a 1-0 lead. It was his sixth homer and 23rd RBI.
The Rockies' Cole Garner hit a solo home run to lead off the second inning to tie the game at 1-1.
John Meloan made his first start of the season for the Raptors and pitched well. He only gave up one run on two hits in three innings of work. Meloan struck out five of the 12 batters he faced.
Casper went off in the fourth inning, scoring six run on five hits to take a 7-1 lead. The first six batters to come to the plate all scored runs for the Rockies, who evened the three-game series at one game apiece.
However, Ogden didn't go without a fight. In the top of the fifth, Adam Godwin and Soto drew walks. David Sutherland hit a double into right field, scoring both runners to cut the lead to 7-3. Sutherland now has 34 RBIs.
In the seventh, Casper scored again to stretch the lead to 8-4.
The Raptors fought back in the final two innings. Soto scored his third run of the game in the eighth to cut the lead to five.
B.J. Richmond lead off the ninth with a double. Andrew Locke then hit a single, driving in Richmond. That was followed by a Rotsen Gil single, giving Raptors runners at the corners with no outs. The Rockies brought in closer Andrew Johnston to record the final three outs.
