Paul Rodriguez Jr. is a high school dropout, the product of a broken Hollywood home and the new king of street skateboarding.

The soft-spoken 20-year-old with bushy black hair and love for slain hip-hop star Notorious B.I.G. moved smoothly from trick to trick outside the Staples Center Thursday to win his second straight X Games street title.

Raised by his mother, Rodriguez rarely visited his busy father, actor-comedian Paul Rodriguez, seeing him mostly at stand-up comedy venues or on the sets of movies and TV shows.

Rodriguez has become the most recognized star of a highly technical and largely low-key sport.
