SPORTSMAN'S SHOW

The Sportsman's Rocky Mountain Huntin' Show opens Friday at the Southtowne Expo Center.

Special guest will be Rulon Gardner, the Olympic gold and silver medalist. He will be at the show signing his new book on outdoor survival and awareness.

One of the feature events will be an archery contest on a simulated hunting archery range. Top prize is a Jeep Wranger. A novice shooter will win an ATV.)

There will also be an opportunity to donate money for a rubber ducky, will be entered in a drawing for a $10,000 Mud Buddy multi-sports boat. Donations will go to benefit Ducks Unlimited.

The show will features a full range of the newest products for hunting and fishing. There will also be a kids' fair and an outdoor awareness camp, hosted by Gardner and search and rescue experts.

The show will end on Sunday. Show hours will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors, with children 12 and under free. Discount tickets at Sportsman's Warehouse and all 7-Eleven locations.

WORLD RECORD SKATE

The Utah Olympic Oval, home to the Fastest Ice on Earth, is looking for 2,500 skaters of any level to try for a World Record Skate entry in the Guinness Book of World Records.

On Saturday, participants will be fitted with ice skates beginning at 3:30 p.m. and they will make their way to the ice in order to set the record at 5:30 p.m.

Among those skating will be Olympic speedskating gold medalist, Derek Parra and members of the U.S. National Speedskating team.

All participants will receive a certificate commemorating the World

Record Skate as well as a complimentary refreshment.

Gates open at noon with the event concluding with fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

Admission to the festival, which includes live music, swimming and family entertainment is $3 for adults, $2 for teenagers and $1 for children.

Festival admission is required for World Record Skate participation and includes free skate rentals and skating!
