PROVO — The Utah County Commission approved a midyear budget amendment Tuesday, adding $1.3 million to its 2005 budget.

"Overall, we've given it a pretty good look," said Utah County Commissioner Larry Ellertson. "We did the right thing, hopefully making some changes that will make a difference in people's lives."

Ellertson said the budget adjustments included transfers in assessing and collecting, as well as fund transfers to cover personnel changes in municipalities where the county is contracted to provide police service.

Utah County's fiscal year runs the same as the calendar year.
