OGDEN The Ogden Raptors won an 11-inning thriller, 11-10, Monday against the Idaho Falls Chukars on a two-run game-winning double by David Sutherland.
Drew Locke drove in four runs, and he and B.J. Richmond both homered to lead Ogden. D.J. Jackson had three hits for the Raptors.
The Chukars broke a 7-7 tie in the seventh inning. Jeff Howell walked, stole second and scored on a single from Josh Colafemina to make the score 8-7.
The Raptors took the lead back in the bottom of the inning. Jackson singled and Sutherland and Richmond walked to load the bases for Locke, who doubled to left field to score Jackson and Sutherland and make the score 9-8.
But the Chukars tied the game again in the eighth. Andrew Larsen singled and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. Jase Turner then reached first on a close play that the Ogden players thought was an out. Larsen advanced to home from third during the confusion and tied the game at 9.
Richmond hit a solo home run to center field in the fifth inning to give the Raptors a 7-4 lead.
But Idaho Falls answered in the sixth inning with two runs of its own. Howell led off the inning with a single and then scored from first base on a double from Josh Johnson. Colafemina then hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Johnson and clear the bases.
But the Chukars weren't done yet. Ethien Santana, Chrus McConnell and Felix Peguero then hit three straight singles to score Santana and tie the game at 7.
Ogden took its first lead in the third inning. D.J. Jackson, Jesus Soto and David Sutherland hit consecutive one-out singles to score Jackson. Russ Mitchell then grounded out to second base to allow Soto to cross the plate and make the score 4-3.
The Raptors added two more runs in the fourth inning on a two-run double from Jackson. Drew Locke and Juan Rivera both walked around a double from Rosten Gil to load the bases for Jackson. Locke and Gil both scored to make the score 6-3, but Rivera was called out at third base as he collided with Chukar third baseman Josh Colafemina.
Colafemina remained on the ground for a couple of minutes, but stayed in the game. The Idaho Falls first baseman, Turner, was also knocked down in the inning.
Soto hit a grounder to the pitcher and then collided with Turner as he caught the throw.
Turner batted the next inning and homered to right-center field for the Chukars, making the score 6-4.
After B.J. Richmond walked in the second inning, Drew Locke homered to left field to give the Raptors their first runs and cut their deficit to 3-2.
Starter Mario Alvarez ran into trouble to start the game. The Chukars led off the first inning with four consecutive singles followed by a double. Santana, McConnell and Larsen each scored to give Idaho Falls a 3-0 lead.
After going one-for-5 Monday, Russ Mitchell is now two-for-18 on the current homestand with two strikeouts and only one RBI.
