Councilman to run again
Warner does not yet face opposition for his seat, which represents northeast Provo, despite his previous public indecision about whether he would run again.
Warner chose not to jump into the mayoral race after consulting with his wife, he said. Mayor Lewis Billings has said he will seek a third term in this fall's election, and Dave Bailey, who narrowly lost to Billings in 2001, is opposing Billings again.
No other candidate has emerged to oppose Warner, who retired this summer as an associate professor of Church History and Doctrine at Brigham Young University and as the university chaplain.
In Provo's other races, incumbent Cindy Richards has filed to run for re-election representing central Provo, and former mayor George Stewart faces newcomer Charles "Pat" Cochrane in the race to fill the citywide council seat being vacated by Dave Knecht.
