Gov. Jon M. Huntsman Jr. on Thursday announced the appointment of Laura S. Nelson as Utah's new energy adviser.
Nelson received her bachelor's degree and Ph.D. from the University of Utah. She is currently a policy strategist with the Idaho Public Utilities Commission.
Nelson's responsibilities will include the development of a statewide energy plan. She also will work with the newly formed Governor's Energy Advisory Council.
She will begin the job Sept. 1.
