Yvette Donosso Diaz, executive director of the Utah Department of Community and Culture, has announced the opening of a new position of director of the Office of Ethnic Affairs.

Luz Robles, director of public policy and research for ethnic affairs, will serve as interim director of the state's Asian, black, Hispanic and Pacific Islander affairs offices.

The new position is part of Diaz's plan for the ethnic offices to work more closely together as they implement a strategic plan they're developing.

"The Office of Ethnic Affairs is currently working on developing and unveiling a strategic plan that addresses and meets the issues and needs of Utah's ethnic communities," Diaz said in a statement. "The importance of the task at hand required someone to provide direction and administrative oversight for the office immediately."

Resumes will be accepted for a period of 30 days at bburley@utah.gov.
