Utah Gov. Jon M. Huntsman Jr. announced Friday he has appointed Miguel R. Rovira to serve as a trade representative, overseeing the state's economic-development work in Latin America.

Rovira, an attorney, also serves as executive director of the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and is president of Telesol, a technical support and telecommunications consulting company in Salt Lake City.

Rovira operated a law office in Falls Church, Va., from 1994-1997 and worked as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Transportation's Office of the Assistant General Counsel for Litigation in Washington, D.C., from 1985-91.

Huntsman said he also will appoint a trade executive for Asia in the near future.
