One man was killed and another seriously injured Saturday night during a shooting in Salt Lake City.
Police responded to shots fired near 1200 West and 500 South at about 11 p.m. Saturday. Lt. Dave Askerlund said officers found some casings on the ground and were later informed that two gunshot victims had been admitted to LDS Hospital.
Lopeti Keiaho, 25, was pronounced dead from a gunshot to his chest, Askerlund said. A 40-year-old man was listed in serious condition with a gunshot wound to his leg.
Sione Maafu Kauvaka, 24, was arrested for investigation of homicide, Askerlund said. The driver of the vehicle, Simone, 19, was also arrested.
Police are unsure if the shooting was gang related, but Askerlund said the incident may have been in retaliation for an argument between two groups earlier that night.
