Family: Dave Rose, 47; wife Cheryl; three children: Chanell (25), Garrett (21) and Taylor (10).

Hobbies: "His hobby is his work doing basketball, really. It consumes him," says Cheryl. Says Dave: "My wife says it's sad, but basketball is what I love to do more than anything. I enjoy the outdoors, love the beach, the lake, the boat and water skiing — until I got older. That's a tough sport to do."

Favorite movies: "I'm not a real moviegoer," Dave says. "I like movies, action, adventure, mysteries you can't predict, like 'A Few Good Men.' It's hard to find good ones. I see a lot to find a good one I actually do like."

Favorite music: "I like all kinds of music, classic rock, jazz," Dave says. "I like going to concerts" — the latest being Sting and Fleetwood Mac. When younger, as a concert usher in Houston, Rose saw all kinds of bands and performers, including a live concert with the King, Elvis Presley.

Favorite TV shows: Rarely follows a regular TV program.
