Ex-officer nominated as judge
Huntsman selects Paul Iwasaki to serve on juvenile court
Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. has nominated a former Salt Lake City police officer to serve as a judge in the 2nd District Juvenile Court.
Judge Paul Iwasaki started his career in the police department but made his way into the courts. He later went on to serve as a deputy Salt Lake County attorney and an assistant attorney general before becoming a judge. Iwasaki also served as an administrative law judge for the Utah State Tax Commission and the Utah Department of Employment Security.
Iwasaki will leave his current post at the Salt Lake City Justice Court to assume his new position at the 2nd District Juvenile Court. His appointment will become final if confirmed by the state Senate.
Second District Court includes Weber, Davis and Morgan counties.
