BRYCE HALF-MARATHON
The Bryce Canyon Half-Marathon will be July 16. The marathon raises funds for a local hospital.
Nearly 300 runners participated in the inaugural Bryce Canyon Half-Marathon and 5K Run/Walk, which raised $1,000 for Garfield Memorial Hospital.
Billed as "an extraordinary run through scenic Southwestern Utah," the Bryce Canyon course goes through Bryce Canyon National Park and along Highway 12, a National Scenic Byway.
The half-marathon will start at 6 a.m. in front of Ruby's Inn, just outside the entrance to the park. Prize money will be split between the top three overall male and female runners in the half-marathon. All participants will receive finishers medals and T-shirts. There will be divisional awards and special awards for the oldest, youngest and the participant from the farthest distance.
A 5K run/walk will start at 6:30 a.m. at Cannonville City Park. For additional information call 1-800-444-6689 or log on to www.brycecanyoncountry.com.

Officials report that salt conditions on the track this year are excellent and anticipate several new world records will be set. There will be two courses one 5 miles and the second 3 miles long.
CAUTION AT JORDANELLE
Park rangers are urging boaters to use caution while boating on Jordanelle Reservoir. Due to high runoff of the Provo River, debris, trees and other vegetation have been deposited into the reservoir. Damage to boat propellers has occurred, and there is a potential for more serious damage or personal injury.
