South of 5400 South, the relocations are fairly firm. It is between U-201 and 5400 South, however, where the options vary and the alignment remains uncertain, Newell said.

No timetable has been released for construction of the Mountain View Corridor, in large part because no funding is available. The EIS is not yet complete and the start of construction still could be 10 years away.

But construction could begin sooner if the state decides to make the Mountain Corridor a toll road. That idea is under consideration as part of the EIS process.

"We're just at the very early stage of that, so we're not quite sure what it will mean for the project," Newell said. "We will look at it as an alternative. . . . It's a fairly new concept for us."

For more information on the corridor, visit the project's web site at www.udot.utah.gov/mountainview.
