CASPER, Wyo. The Ogden Raptors scored three times in the eight inning to tie the score but couldn't hold off Casper in the ninth Saturday evening.
Trailing 6-3 going into the eighth, Ogden had the bases loaded with two outs. Justin Crist hit a ground ball to Casper third baseman Daniel Mayora, whose throwing error allowed Jason Mooneyham, B.J. Richmond and D.J. Jackson to score, and Crist to go to third base.
Casper committed six errors, and none of the Raptors' six runs were earned.
But Ogden's pitching struggled more than the Rockies' defense. Three pitchers gave up seven runs five earned on 12 hits.
The Rockies won in the ninth on a double by Mayora and then consecutive singles by Radames Nazario and Corey Wimberly. That allowed Mayora and Nazario to escape goat status for Casper; shortstop Nazario had three fielding errors.
Ogden's Jesus Soto had the Raptors' best game at the plate, going 2-for-5 and scoring two runs. One of his hits was a double.
