CASPER, Wyo. After trailing early, the Orem Owlz tried to keep up with Casper's offensive consistency but ran out of firepower as the Rockies pulled out a 9-8 win Thursday night.
While both teams struggled for the first three innings, the Rockies collected a trio of singles before Radames Nazario's double and Corey Wimberly's single helped bump the Rockies up to a 4-0 lead.
In the top of the fifth, the Owlz scored two runs, but the Rockies answered with three runs. While the Owlz posted another pair of runs, Casper picked up a run in both the sixth and seventh innings to lead by five.
The Rockies tied Orem's 4-6 record and now share last place in the Pioneer League South Division with the Owlz.
Orem will face the Rockies again tonight then travel to Idaho Falls for a three-game series. The Owlz return next Tuesday for a three-game homestand against the Rockies.
