Ivory is a graduate of the University of Utah and Harvard University. He returned to Utah in 1992, when he was named division manager for Ivory Homes' Salt Lake and Utah county operations. In 2000, Ellis Ivory, founder of Ivory Homes and Clark Ivory's father, retired. Clark Ivory was named chief executive at that time.
In a statement released Wednesday, Salt Lake Chamber President and Chief Executive Lane Beattie said, "We are very excited about having Clark give us his leadership for the next year. He has a sharp intellect and a determination to succeed. His goals will build upon the excellent leadership and growth we enjoyed under Mark Howell."
Ellis Ivory is chairman of the board of directors of the Deseret News Publishing Co.
Ivory succeeds Mark Howell, executive vice president/division manager at Wells Fargo, who served as chamber chairman for the 2004-2005 fiscal year, which ended June 30.
