Clog America has been invited to be the official U.S. representative at an international folk festival in Moscow to commemorate the end of World War II. Each of the Allied countries has been invited to send a representative to the festival, which will take place in Red Square Sept. 1-5.
Even though it was a "last-minute" invitation and much of the group's schedule and funds were already committed, "we felt it was important for the U.S. to be represented," said Shawnda Bishop, director of the American folk dance troupe, which is based in West Valley City. They will be taking a group of 18 dancers and musicians to Russia. To help raise money for the trip (they have to pay their own way), Clog America will sponsor a gigantic yard sale on Saturday at the corner of 3500 South and 6000 West. Donated goods go on sale at 7 a.m.
